First you should know when to take insurance against a dealer’s Ace. The tendency is to not insure against the Ace. There are times when it is better to take insurance against a dealer’s Ace. The best way to establish this rule is whenever the card count is a minimum of +4 against the dealer’s ace.

For these casinos the pit-boss can require the card counter to flat-bet or disallow new entrants after play has begun. Many casinos also use surveillance cameras to name and photo ID card counters and share these with other casinos.
